Requesting your Assistance

Dear Alumnae,

As we enter the Season of Thanksgiving, our thoughts turn to the great gift we have received from God in the Academy of the Holy Family. Since 1874 we have served young women, leading them through the path of knowledge to become worthy citizens of this world and the next.  Through the ebb and flow of its history, the Academy has known challenges and triumphs, changes in programs and in the make-up of our student body, and today we find ourselves looking to contemporary opportunities in the task of forming our students toward success and faithfulness in the life God ordains for each one.

Without trying to adapt to the changing culture of society, we seek to remain faithful to our mission while serving the shifting needs of our students and families. The New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), our accrediting organization, provides us with the format for a self-study that examines how well we accomplish this. In fact, to maintain our accreditation NEASC  requires that every ten years we review our programs and curriculum, our financial stability, development opportunities, our admissions process, our place in the local and global community, and our accountability to you, our students and families—all in the  light of our mission—by means of a detailed self-study. This is always an arduous task, one which must be completed prior to the coming of the NEASC Visiting Team which we expect in the fall of 2020.

While that may seem to be a long time from now, we have already begun the process. We ask you, all our constituents, to be part of this life-giving study.  For this reason you are asked to fill out a survey with carefully- formulated questions on the areas mentioned above. This will provide you with an opportunity to respond honestly in order to help us accurately identify both the strengths of and the challenges facing the Academy of the Holy Family. We also invite you to make any personal remarks on burning issues your may have regarding the school. All survey responses will be seen only by our internal accreditation working group and by the NEASC committee, although the results will be generally reflected in the self-study which will be completed and sent to NEASC by the spring of 2020.

We humbly ask that you complete the survey and return it to us by Tuesday, November 16, 2018 so that we have as clear and comprehensive a picture of our school as possible. For this we would be most grateful.  The link for the survey is below.

AHF Alumnae Survey for Accreditation

May God bless you for your part in making the Academy of the Holy Family an outstanding school, and for your assistance in identifying those areas where we can improve in order to better serve our young women.  Have a beautiful Thanksgiving.

Sincerely yours in Christ the Teacher,

Welcome, Alumnae!

"The Academy of the Holy Family (AHF) Alumnae includes women from different backgrounds and all walks of life who formed an unshakable sisterhood while students at AHF. We are women who have become and are in the process of becoming all that God created us to be because of our experience at AHF where Sisters of Charity of Our Lady, Mother of the Church taught us to discover our strengths and overcome our weaknesses. Many of us have excelled after graduating from the AHF because of the discipline and skills we learned at the AHF as well as the gifts and talents we developed their as students. AHF Alumnae, forever sisters."  Mary Edna Nakalungi
