I graduated from the Academy of the Holy Family in 1984. After returning home, I briefly considered a path in the Army, but soon realized it was not the right fit for me. Instead, I felt called to a different kind of service: God’s service.
On November 22, 1984, I entered the Sisters of Charity of Our Lady, Mother of the Church, beginning my religious life. Over the past 41 years, I have served in Janesville, Wisconsin; Rochester, New Hampshire; Manchester, Connecticut; Norwich, Connecticut; and Old Saybrook, Connecticut.
Much of my ministry has been devoted to teaching, both in schools and at a children’s home. One of my most meaningful experiences has been witnessing children encounter simple joys for the first time—being read to, celebrating holidays like Christmas, Easter, and Thanksgiving, having their own beds with clean sheets, receiving toys, taking showers, playing in the snow, and sharing regular meals and snacks throughout the day.
These moments have stayed with me and continue to affirm my vocation. I have been a Sister for 41 years, and I would not change this path for anything.
