Our Teens of Pro-Life Club are hosting a TOP-Life Café on Saturday, January 18, 2020 from 6:30-8pm in the Academy’s cafeteria. It is a night of celebrating life and also preparing for the March for Life, which will take place on Friday, January 24 in Washington DC. The theme for the TOP-Life Café is “Pro-Woman is Pro-Life.”
During the Top-Life Café, dinner is provided, as well as homemade desserts made by the students. There will be two speakers that evening. One is Lisa Maloney who is Executive Director of Care Net Pregnancy Resource Center in New London, CT, as well as two young men from UCONN’s Students for Life group. We are looking forward to hearing their testimonies and presentations! Students and Sisters also provide entertainment throughout the night with singing and instrumental music presentations, and even an Irish step dance!
We host this TOP-Life Café in preparation for the March for Life in Washington DC. We are taking about 17 students this year to this annual event! We leave around 9pm on a coach bus on Thursday, January 23 to drive all night to Washington DC. We arrive in the early hours of the morning at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception on Friday, January 24. We then make our way to the March for Life Rally as we listen to speakers and are inspired by the thousands of people gathered together to promote the pro-life message that all life is sacred and must be protected at every stage.
The March then begins as we make our way to the Supreme Court building. It truly is amazing to see so many people from all over the country, and even from across the world, gathered together to stand and march throughout our nation’s capital for this cause. This witness motivates everyone to continue to be a voice for the voiceless. Even though it may be a tiring trip, we remind the students that this is truly a pilgrimage for the protection of all life, so we make the journey with great faith and hope for the future!
