From January 27-31, the Academy is looking forward to celebrating Spirit Week! It is a week full of many different activities that bring each class together to celebrate the Academy and themselves as Marist Royals! Often the classes have different competitions, such as decorating certain areas in the Academy, playing games, creating cheer and banners, as well as celebrating International Day!
International Day is an annual event that all of the students and faculty enjoy! During this day, the students wear their traditional dress and it is so lovely to see the students wearing different outfits from Vietnam, Ethiopia, China, South Korea, and more! The students also spend much time buying and cooking some of their favorite meals from their native countries. We enjoy rice, chicken made in a variety of ways, spicy foods, tasty desserts, and even some exotic beverages to name a few! There is such a spread of food that you might need two plates to try a little bit of everything!
Then after the feast, some of the students generally prepare a presentation about their native country. Some students create PowerPoint presentations on their country that includes pictures and videos. Other students sing songs in their native languages, while others perform dances! Our Vietnamese students have been preparing their dance for many months now! It is always an entertaining afternoon, and it is so beautiful to see the students so proud of their native countries. They are so excited to share and we are all so happy to be a part of the day together!
